review:
If you're the type of person that sends a newsletter out with your
photo Christmas
cards every year, you might need an oversized envelope for this
year's Christmas cards because this event was one to write home about!
With over 500,000 people in attendance, the World's Largest Free Blues
Festival certainly lived up to expectations! The five stages kept
rocking and rolling all weekend long and the worst part of the event was
having to decide which one to watch! All kinds of amazing acts pulled
out all the stops and put on incredible shows for the massive audience.
The Koko Taylor tribute on Sunday night was amazing and the largest
evening crowd in years according to festival staff. Mavis Staples (Mable
to Taylor, because of Taylor's inability to pronounce Mavis) was simply
stunning and I'm tempted to put the photo of her belting one out on my
Christmas cards this year because seeing her perform was the highlight
of 2012 for many gospel and blues fans, myself
included. I can't wait for 2013, because I can't imagine how the
festival this
year is going to be topped!
