Blues and the Spirit: May 22-24 

A Symposium on the Legacy of Blues and Gospel Music at Dominican University, River Forest, IL

RIVER FOREST, IL – Dominican University, located just outside the Chicago Loop, will host the Blues and the Spirit Symposium, emphasizing the heritage of African-American Chicago and exploring the shared roots of Blues and Gospel music.

The three-day event will feature panels, presentations and workshops headed by musicians, scholars, authors, historians and more.  Multimedia presentations, photo and art exhibits will be on display.

 Blues artists Otis Clay, Sharon Lewis, Larry Taylor, James Wheeler and Bob Stroger will perform.  A Chicago blues club crawl and a tour of the historic Bronzeville neighborhood, including the Chess Records building, are also on the agenda.
